Ross Vs. The Curse

Don't let me bet on you!

As I wrote on Twitter last night, quite a run to go from $1,100 to zero in 8 days.  I put money into my account to replenish the Kitty for the first time.  With my new funds I put them to work right away.  I took Tiger and Dustin Johnson over the clearly overmatched unknowns in K.T. Kim and Y.E. Yang.  These two had not won a match all week and Tiger and DJ were just coming off their first win from the morning round of Alternate Shot.  Of course I doomed the american duo by wagering $200 to win $100 on them and they went onto lose on the 18th hole after about 17 lip out putts by Tiger.  The Curse of Ross continues.  Today I have decided to curse two NFL teams, two American golfers, and one UFC fighter.  I am not holding back as I have all but $70 in play over this weekend.  This streak can’t last forever right?

Bets of the Weekend

Mauricio “Shogun” Rua to defeat Dan Henderson UFC 139  Bet $140 to win $100

Coming off of the big fight on Fox Tv Dana White wanted to have another PPV event to try to cash in on the possible newfound fans.  Although these guys are big names to MMA fans the regular Joe has no idea that its actually a not so great main event.  Shogun has had is share of ups and down since joining the UFC.  He last fight was a big win over Forest Griffin, after losing the belt to the amazing Jon Jones.  Henderson is coming off beating up the most infamous fighter to never have fought in the UFC , Fedor Emelianenko.  And while that may seem like a big deal, Fedor is not what he once was.  Henderson’s cauliflower ears are a sign of having been in this game too long.  His brain concusses with a stiff breeze.  That breeze will be Shogun’s right hand.

Hunter Mahan to defeat Jason Day Presidents Cup Singles Match  Bet $105 to win $100

These two dropped back to back putts on each other last night and both over celebrated their moments in each other faces.  This will be a spirited match with Mahan looking to revenge his chipping choke in the Ryder Cup from last year.  Day looks as if the putter is getting away from him, a little and he is not sticking every shot like he has been all year leading up to this event.  Different things can happen once they are one on one though, but I still like Mahan to Mahan up.

Matt Kuchar to defeat Retief Goosen Presidents Cup Singles Match  Bet $145 to win $100

Here we have one of the hottest players of the year and of this Cup, taking on a fading player with putting issues.  Seems like a no brainer to me (Although I think I may actually have no brain lately).  Kuchar has appeared to love this team format and will have to take the smile to the solo arena today/tonight (coverage 6:30pm Golf Channel).

Bills +1.5 vs. Dolphins  Bet $220 to win $200

Decided to take a different approach when it comes to the NFL.  I took a list of all the games for this weekend with no spreads on it and one by one wrote down what I thought the spread should be.  I was either dead on or off by 1 or 2 points on all but 2 games.  This is one of them.  I thought this spread would be the Bills giving 3 points despite being on the road, instead they are getting 1.5 points and its the Dolphins.  Best Bet

Raiders -1 vs. Vikings  Bet $220 to win $200

By taking the approach I mentioned above , I had this game as Oakland giving 6 points.  Palmer seems to be gelling a bit more with the team.  The Vikings are crumbling. Their coach is losing credibility with the team and the community.  This team is not built to come from behind either, so if Oakland gets off to a good start, its over and 1 point is a steal. Best Bet

News & Notes

- Within five minutes of betting Tiger and DJ for the afternoon session they lost the first hole to the Koreans and never lead the rest of the day.

- I will most likely tweet a Sunday night bet on the Eagles/Giants game.

- With so much money tied up in bets I am only betting one UFC fight, but off the record I like: Bowles, Le, Kampmann, and Kingsbury to defeat Faber, Silva, Story, and Bonnar respectfully.

- Dropped below 50% win/push percentage for the first time ever.
