Roasted Chestnuts

Posted on December 12, 2011

What a month November was.  The month to give thanks.  The month of my birth.  And the month of the worst performance in tracked betting history that I know of.  There are a lot of sites out there that claim to be the best.  ”Here are my locks of the week”, “first pick free”, “guaranteed winner”, “I will give you my first born if this pick loses”.  They have sign-up fees, and flashy add links to betting websites.  Short on analysis and big on promises are how these sites work.  Trying to find a true and completely accurate time stamped record of every “pick” they make is an impossible task. This is not the case at Ross Vs. The Loss.  I show you everything I do and the reason I do it.  The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.  This past month was a heavy dose of the latter two.  My “Stats” are shown on the front page here every day and that will continue, but I thought I would take it a step further so we are all clear on what took place between November 1 and November 30th this year.  So without further ado, here is somthing you will never see on those “other” sites:

November Record Overall:

10 wins

26 losses

Win/Loss Percentage

Nov 1 = 52.71%

Nov 30 = 48.63%

Change = (-4.08%)

Percentage for November = 27.77%

Best Bets Record

0 wins

5 losses

NFL Record

7 wins

18 losses

Monday Night Football Record

1 win

3 losses

Kitty (Bankroll) Change

Nov 1 = (-$444.25)

Nov 30 = (-$2,112.51)

Change – (-$1,668.26)

Long Odds Bets

1 win

1 loss

Money spent = $150

Money earned = $1,000

There you have it.  No hiding behind that!  The most amazing part of this is the long odds win at World Series of Poker.  Even with that $1000 win I still am where I am!  But here I stand on December the 1st with the hope of bettor days to come.  So how appropriate that I have taken my last twenty eight dollars and ninety two cents, on this first day of the Christmas month and placed it all on the NFL offering for the evening.  I am playing the ultimate short stack game and I find myself once again “All In”.  Will there be a Christmas miracle starting tonight?  Will the new month, the new chilled air, bring me a possible turnaround to the numbers I have so painstakingly presented above?  How long can a man run this bad?  So pass the egg nog, throw a log on the fire and sit back.  It’s Christmas time.

Bet of the Night

Eagles -3 vs. Seahawks  Bet $28.92 to win $26.29

The crazy Seahawk fans in that crazy shaped stadium have a true home field advantage, one of the best in the league.  The Eagles are a mess.  They just lost to the Patriots, they are coming off a short week and had to fly out west.  Andy Reid is about to burned at the cheesesteak, and Mike Vick is out for this one.  So why on God’s green earth would I bet them to not only win but win by more than 3 points?  Pete Carroll.

News & Notes

- I will start my December winning streak watching this game while playing some live poker.  FYI, my November Texas Hold Em record is 0-7.  Will it all change tonight?

- Life and Times of Tim is back on demand on HBO.  I cannot recommend this show enough. If South Park, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Office Space had a uncensored baby it would be this show.

- One positive for this month was I had a sex worker follow me on Twitter, funny thing though, she follows 712 other people also, but no one follows her?

- Bobby V was named Red Sox Manager.  The Boston Globe headline: “Valentines Way”.  Clever take on “Day” missed that one.
