Picks, Picks, And More Picks

Posted on October 10, 2011

Busy weekend up ahead so I have decided to make my NFL Picks in this Friday edition.  This is somewhat of a throwback to the old school Ross Vs. The Loss days of when my picks came to close friends via email only.  It was always on Friday and would be a summary of all the picks I was making for the weekend.  Some of these were NCAA plays and some were NFL, as well as some other sports sprinkled in if they were playing on the weekend.  I am fairly clueless on College football right now but I plan to get up to speed come bowl time.  The World Series (2-0 so far including last nights nail-biter Texas Rangers win), resumes with Game 3 in Texas on Saturday night.  I will probably  just post this bet on the comments below this article when the World Series gets closer to first pitch.  But for now its NFL Pick ‘EM Friday folks and I am laying $535 on the line to win $500  which is well over half my worth so here they are and lets hope for the best.

Bets of the Weekend

What's With The Shades?

Miami Dolphins -1 Vs. Denver Broncos  Bet $105 to win $100

Tebow Smebow!  Sure the Dolphins looked horrible this past week.  Sure Coach Tony looks like he been spending nights at the Bada! Bing! but what can you say.  I gotta fellin bout this one OK, you gotta problem with that…huh…do ya!  Miami is at home and they have incentive to make Tebow cry.  I think the fins get solid QB play this week and the defense chases down the running Gator boy just enough to pull this one out.  If I am wrong and the Dolphins lose its cement shoe time for Sparano.

Panthers -2.5 Vs. Washington Redskins  Bet $210 to win $200

There is always the temptation to bet against a team that blew a game for you in the previous week.  One could accuse me of that with this Best Bet of the week.  The Redskins blew chunks all over themselves last week losing to a reeling Eagles squad even after having the bye week to prepare.  New QB John Beck is a Miami retread for a few years back and the Offensive line suffered two key injuries.  Cam finally gets win number 2 after being close in every game and covering most as well.  The Panthers are home also.  No Doubt.

I Love Zona!!!

Pittsburgh Steelers Vs. Arizona Cardinals Over 43 points  Bet $110 to win $100

This point spread has trap game written all over it.  ”Wait the Steelers are only giving 4 points to Arizona, Wow what a”…. Not so fast.  First they are on the road in a non divisional, non conference game, that in the end will mean little.  It’s going to be Party Time for Ben and the rest of the boys in back and yellow.  The number of gentlemen’s clubs in Phoenix alone is cause for concern (or so I have heard) for any Steeler point spread layer.  The 4:05 start means plenty of recovery time from curfew breaking on Saturday night.  Steelers come out sloppy and give up some points.  They will probably pull it out and may even cover, but the sure bet is the Over.

Indianapolis Colts Vs. New Orleans Saints Under 48 points  Bet $110 to win $100

The Sunday night game.  Primetime Baby. Despite Indy having no Peyton, causing the offense to more than sputter, the defense has been solid, and the pass rush is there specialty.  Will they stop Brees, NO, will they win, NO, will it be like …28-0, Yes.  So I like the under.  Actually I think Painter has a cannon for an arm and three weeks experience can’t hurt the fellow Purdue alum who will have something to prove.  The team is behind the young kid as well.  But in the end enough D gets played on both ends even on the fast carpet in the Dome.

Just bet the Rangers to win tonight $186 to win $100. Laying a lot of dough to win, but I think Texas breaks out in this one.

Laying off Game 4 after that Game 3 beat down. Too Much NFL going today with 4 games and $535 on the line. Pujols is a monster. Talk about shutting up the critics! Texas is on the ropes…
