Tim Tebow…The Second Coming?

Tim Tebow

Flutie on Steroids

Mixed bag, in the NFL this week.  I won the Steelers/Cardinals Over 43 bet with ease, the total coming in at 52.  The sweat was over with 11:30 left in the 4th quarter which is always nice.  I lost the Dolphins -1 vs. the Broncos bet with a 52 yard field goal in OT.  The fish blew a 15 point lead at home in the last 3 minutes of the game.  Goodbye Mr. Sparano.  As for Tim Tebow you can listen to the God Squaders in the sports chat rooms who say he is the second coming, or you can listen to pundit guys like Boomer Esaison who say he will never make it as a long term NFL QB.  But what I would say is that the guy does have that winning drive, why does it have to be an all or nothing proposition.  He could be the best wildcat, change of pace, situational QB, in the history of the game.  Just find him a head on straight, great arm, pocket passer, buddy, who would not mind sharing the snaps, and together they could role to some rings and change the position of QB forever.

I was also just a tad off in my assessment of the Colts/Saints Under 48 bet.  I said the score would be like 28-0 Saints.  Well the Saints did dominate, and it was almost a shutout, but the Indy defense did not come to play at all getting pounded for a league high 67 points!  Lastly I won my Best Bet pick of the week.  The Panthers -2.5 vs Redskins Bet was a sweet and much needed 13 point victory.  The fact that it was for $200 was nice for the Kitty total as well.

So on the day I went 2-2 and made $85.  However the I also bet Game three of the World Series on Saturday night and took the Rangers to win risking $186. The Rangers got pounded in a slug fest.   So for the whole weekend I made 5 bets worth $721 went 2-3 and lost $101 total.

And then there is redemption night.  Monday night.  The temptation of course is to double up, bet hard, and finish the betting week a winner.  There are more hard luck Monday night bet stories than any other day thats for sure.  I am going to play it kind of safe and try to make the smart play.  Will Baltimore win this game?  Will they win by 10 or more on the road?  My gut says yes.  My head says stay away.  I have some other plays in mind.

Bets of the Night

Ravens vs. Jaguars Longest Field Goal of the Game Over 44.5 yards  Bet $110 to win $100

The Jags are getting beat up bad, after a Ravens turnover or some fluke play the Jags find themselves around the Baltimore 30 yard line.  After two plays of no yards and facing 3rd and 10, Ray Lewis is sent on the blitz and gets the sack.  Jacksonville desperate to get on the scoreboard attempts and makes a 49 yard field goal. Its good!!

Ravens vs. Jaguars Total Sacks by Both Teams Over 5  Bet $105 to win $100

The Jags are getting beat up bad, after a Ravens turnover or some fluke play the Jags find themselves around the Baltimore 30 yard line.  After two plays of no yards and facing 3rd and 10, Ray Lewis is sent on the blitz and gets the sack (sixth sack of the game).  Jacksonville desperate to get on the scoreboard attempts and makes a 47 yard field goal.

News & Notes

- Still alive in the Drop Dead Pool I am in.  408 gone 65 remain.  Most everyone had Dallas this week so most moved on.  4 people have Baltimore tonight so the upset may not be the worst thing in the world.

- Lost in head to head competition in Fantasy Football yesterday as well.  Had the third highest point total in the league but was matched up against the first highest.  Hate when that happens.  Brees got me 43 points alone.  I had three others with double digit points (Dez Bryant, Neil Rackers, Houston Defense).  So how did I lose?  The opponent had Peterson, Sproles, S. Jackson, and the points machine Mike Wallace.

- So there is also Game 5 of the World Series tonight and the Rangers are the favorite despite the Cardinals having Carpenter on the mound.  I think the second time through this line-up may prove more difficult for Chris.  I will watch with interest for future betting purposes, but I am staying away from this as far as betting some dough. If you had to make me chose I would say the Rangers pull it off and head back up to St. Louis up 3 games to 2.

- Thanks for tuning in and spread the word!
