Week 8 Picks & The World Series!

Posted on October 10, 2011

Who Get's This?

Some have called it a classic.  Some have tweeted “best game ever”.  One thing is for sure, as I have said before, nothing beats playoff baseball.  The intensity, the story lines, and yes the drama, of a seven game series can not be matched.  That game last night while not the best ever (to many errors for that), was absolutely riveting.  I watched it later into the night than most as I played in a poker game that had me getting home around 11:30 pm eastern No wins in 4 games but one cash for 2nd place coming back from one chip).  Having two bets on the game I had to watch and resisted the temptation to fast forward.  I won both bets by the 7th inning and continued to watch for the pure joy the rest of the way, until I heard alarm clocks going off upstairs.  Needless to say, I am a little tired at the moment.  Also there is still room on the Freese Bandwagon, come aboard.

When this series started I said I liked the underdog Cardinals, but I am not a fan of betting an entire series outcome.  I prefer to bet game by game.  Now here we are at Game 7 and I am glad I made that decision to not bet the series because I would be locked in to the Cardinals tonight, with Carpenter on three days rest. This I am not a fan of, and it is something the New Hampshire native has never done before.  Matt Holliday is out with a bad wrist as well.  I am going with the Rangers (who are not favored).

Have to bang out the picks for this weekend as its a busy Friday night and Saturday around here.  I do not even have time to crow about being above the starting number of $1,141.43 for the first time in forever.  It may not last long as I am laying $650 on this line tonight and this weekend. Things are heating up.

Bets of the Night/Weekend

Texas Rangers To Win Game 7  Vs. St. Louis Cardinals  Bet $100 to Win $123

Just like another home team many years back won game six with a big walk-off home run and went on to lose Game 7 in front of stunned fans, so will be the case here.  This game will lack the drama of the last one as the Rangers get to Carpenter early and the bull pen holds on.

Saints -13.5 Vs. Rams  Bet $210 to win $200

Lot of points for the road, and I do not see the Saints putting up 6o plus points in this one, but the Rams are a sieve on defense leading me to make this a best bet.

Giants -9.5 Vs. Dolphins  Bet $105 to win $100

Miami on the road.  Miami is looking for two things right now.  A coach and the first pick in the draft. The only thing keeping me from doubling up on this one is of course Eli.

Browns +9 Vs. 49er’s  Bet $120 to win $100

San Fran despite its record should not be favored by this many to anyone, even at home.  No Hillis for the Browns but I think they keep this close and McCoy makes the throws he needs to make.

Eagles -3 Vs. Cowboys Bets $115 to win $100

Vick runs around enough to avoid the big Dallas rushers while Romo pulls a Romo at some point. This spread was 3.5 but I paid a little extra to make it a straight 3 point spread.

Have a good weekend, check in for a possible weekend update article.

FYI, UFC tonight and I placed two bets, Cro Cop over Roy Nelson Bet $100 to win $200, Nick Diaz over BJ Penn in the main event Bet $100 to win $130. Nice Job Cards (always trust the first instinct gut play).
